Celebration of Nazrul Joyonti

Bangladesh High Commission, Canberra celebrated the 110th Birth Anniversary of National Poet of Bangladesh Kazi Nazrul Islam in the evening of Monday, 11 Jaishtha 1416/25 May 2009 at the premises of the Mission. The programme included songs and recitation by children (Naureen, Nafi, Ruddro, Rafid, Monan), recitation by Nazneen Chowdhury, Shumon and Mohiuddin. A number of Nazrul giti (Songs of Nazrul) were performed by Sejuti, Tarek Mahmud, Salma Mir (Rana bhabi), Robin, Avijit and Sakiba Rahman (Mitul bhabi). H.E. the High Commissioner Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Chowdhury thanked the performers and audience to part in the programme, and hoped that Bangladesh will become a country free from corruption, exploitation and deprivation following the sprit of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The function was well attended by the members of the Bangladesh community in Canberra. Everyone enjoyed and appreciated the function.
