Fundraise to Fight the Famine in Somalia and the greater Horn of Africa

This is a humble request to help us fundraise to Fight the Famine in Somalia and the greater Horn of Africa (HOA), OR at the very least distribute our flyers/adverts for it.

AND HERE’s WHY

#1) Muslim Aid is NOT taking any administration fee on this appeal (100% of donations GO to Somalia/HOA)

#2) Muslim Aid is already active on the ground, having already sent over $350k worth of funds and food - over and above our projects in the region.

#3) Muslim Aid is 100% Tax-Deductible, allowing ones donations to go further

#4) Muslim Aid is an official signatory to the ACFID code of conduct, making us more transparent and accountable than many of our counterparts.

The Reality is…

The last famine in Somalia in 1991-1992 KILLED 500,000 PEOPLE.

In today’s famine, OVER 640,000 Somali CHILDREN are acutely malnourished and AT GREAT RISK of DEATH unless more help arrives. This prediction has been mirrored by a multitude of authorities on international disaster relief.

In Somalia in the LAST 90 DAYS alone, a staggering 29,000 CHILDREN under the age of 5 DIED.

Our hope is that the Muslim community will realize the reality of the crisis in Somalia and act upon it. We are encouraging you in the hopes of saving as many lives as we can.

This Ramadan presents us with an opportunity to help those affected by this disaster and gain Allah's mercy.

Abdullah bin `Amr bin al-`As narrated that the Prophet of Allah salallahu alayhi wasallam said, "The Most Merciful (God) shows mercy to those who have mercy on others. Show mercy to those on earth, and the One above the heaven will show mercy to you." (Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud)

Muslim Aid has been in Somalia for over 18 years and our experienced field office has been distributing aid since the 10th of July. Our staff on the ground have witnessed extraordinary conditions of severely malnourished children on the brink of death and powerless parents forced to watch their children die.

In the latest video from our field staff a mother who walked thousands of miles for 15 days arrives at the camp having lost 8 children on the way. Her anguish and pain echoes volumes of the strife of these people, she could be our mother, our sister our aunt.

We appeal to you to support our efforts in providing vital staple food items and shelter to our brothers and sisters in the Horn of Africa. In this month of mercy let us show mercy to them.
